My research experience as an NSF-Funded IRES Intern was incredible! I enjoyed being able to learn about Human-Computer Interfaces and Research Design first-hand throughout this summer. In particular, I learned that I am interested in Brain-Computer Interfaces and would like to continue research in this field sometime in the future. I also enjoyed the HCI for Safety Summer School that was put on by OFFIS, the research institute in which I worked these past few months. It was a great learning experience to be able to attend lectures and participate in hands-on workshops.
I was so priviledged to be able to experience the cultures and learn about the history of places such as Prague, Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Münster, Leer, Norderney, Gronigen and Amsterdam on top of living in Oldenburg. By traveling on my own around Europe, I gained confidence that I could be self-sufficient. In the beginning, I was nervous about traveling in countries in which I could not speak the language, but I was able to pick up bits and pieces of the language here and there and was able to get by. There are so many places I still wish to see in Europe and I will definitely be back again.
